Blog Overview

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need to highlight some of the fantastic achievements of female scientists, artists, engineers, philanthropists etc. for their outstanding contribution to society - because they would celebrated as great scientists, artists, engineers etc. simply for their outstanding contributions to society, along with their male contemporaries.

Unfortunately, this is still not yet the world in which we live. Positive discrimination remains necessary to help tip the balance.

So here are some of my heroes. People that have inspired me and continue to do so through their knowledge, skills, beliefs, scientific breakthroughs, musicianship, strength and, occasionally, rebellious attitudes. Some of them are already well renowned but others aren't and really should be.

By gathering them together in one place on the internet for the world to see, hopefully they will start to gain some of the recognition they deserve - and inspire other people like they inspired me.

I'll add entries as and when and this will be (clearly) by no means an exhaustive list so suggestions are always welcome!
